If you want to work out in a fun and fresh environment, give it all you’ve got, and then lay down in the grass and see a bunny hop by: This is the place for you.
What is notable is that their original intention wasn’t to start a business: It started off with the desire to work out in a different setting as oppose to being in a normal gym; and 3 years ago that is exactly what they did. John had access to Olympic weightlifting equipment thanks to his dad, and a large open field: boot camp style exercising seemed like the way to go. Raquel and John had just started dating, and seeing how Raquel had always loved exercising, she was one of the first to join.
Running and flipping huge tires was great exercise, but John wanted to switch things up a bit.
He started looking into what kind of training was done in American Football, seeing the intensity and the obvious results. It was then that he discovered CrossFit, and slowly but surely started incorporating the exercises into their regimen. As most of the people in our generation: posting pictures of whatever we are passionate about on social media goes naturally, and Raquel and John were no exception. The more photos they posted, the more interest was shown in joining in on the fun and so with the group growing fast they decided to start investing in upgrading their location.
John had dreamed of owning his own gym one day, and things had evolved to the point where this is wasn’t only a possibility; but a reality. Their relationship never got in the way of their business; if anything it made it better. Raquel has a background in graphic design; and this comes through beautifully on all their materials.
From their logo to their shirts to their Facebook page: Together they not only build a business, they crafted a brand. Their attention to detail in all aspects is what sets them apart. According to Raquel a woman’s touch makes all the difference, and not only is she dedicated to their community, but also to proving that women can do absolutely everything men can, and more. This includes, but is not limited to continuing to train while pregnant with their first baby. Raquel is a very vocal advocate for continuing to train while pregnant.
This topic is one that was often met with dropped jaws or disapproving commentary by the people who hadn’t seen this before, but Raquel insists that it’s all about listening to your body, and being aware of what it can, and can’t handle.
Raquel had no complications during her pregnancy, a quick delivery, and their healthy and happy son Enzo, the youngest member of the Elite Fitness family is proof that mommy knew best. Along with their family growing, so is their business: Elite has branched out and now also offers you products that are in line with a healthy lifestyle, check out Elite Fitness Health Emporium for more information. The thought behind it being that a healthy lifestyle has to cover all the bases; what you put into your body is equally as important as what you do with it.
Raquel and John are a couple of DreamCatchers: they have not only gone after what they want, but in doing so help others to achieve what they want; so be it tips on eating clean, achieving their dream body, or simply an example of what a great partner can help you achieve if you’re on the same track.
