Some people have always known what they wanted to do for a living, and went for it. Others are still trying to figure that out.

Yours truly is currently floating right in the middle.

Yours truly is currently floating right in the middle.

I wanted to find something that I was passionate about: the kind of job where I would have a huge smile on my face when I talked about it, or I couldn’t wait to get to work.

I wanted a job that made me really, and I do mean really happy.

This of course is easier said than done, because the way I see it, it’s a 2 part challenge:
1. Finding your passion
2. Making your passion your livelihood

Dreams Caught: Lessons Learned

For the past few weeks, during the DreamCatchers Project I have written about young entrepreneurs.
At the beginning of this project all I wanted to do was something positive. I wanted to show that the younger generation on the island of Curacao is actively working towards their dreams, and I hoped that while showcasing them I would inspire others doing the same to keep moving forward. I also hoped that those scared of starting would get the courage they needed.

DreamCatcher Mariluz: Owner of Naturals Curaçao

A few years ago I had decided to go natural…those who have gone through or are going through this journey know the sheer desperation that hits you when you realize that you have no idea how to handle your own hair. I googled all that I could, asked around, and finally heard through the grapevine that there was someone making and selling products specifically for natural hair… And that is how I first met Mariluz.

DreamCatchers Fayme & Josh: Owners of Hofi Cas Cora & The Eatery

Our lives are so filled with technological advancements that when thinking about positive changes and innovation sometimes it’s easy to forget about the basics.
So let’s get back to the roots shall we?

DreamCatcher Xavier: Leader of Area 51

There is one quote by Henri Matisse that has stuck with me since I started writing: “Creativity takes courage.”

DreamCatcher Uriel: Owner of UNS Productions

It is all about pictures. We post what we ate, what we wore, where we went and who we were with, with countless selfies. Photography is now more popular than ever, but as many filters as you put on your pictures, nothing compares to the work of a professional. On the island of Curaçao there a plenty of photographers, but one young man in particular has stood out

DreamCatchers Raquel & John: Owners of Elite Fitness

They met, they fell in love, they build a brand. It’s a modern day fairy tale… The only difference is that instead of saying “..they lived happily ever after”, I would adapt it and say: “…. they lifted happily ever after.”

DreamCatcher Luigi: Owner of La Vie en Rose Curaçao

On the list of places I simply have to visit in this lifetime; Paris is quite high up. For now that is a distant dream, but luckily the flavors aren’t…

DreamCatcher Jayson: Owner of Aquafari

Starting a business and having to deal with all the competition in your field takes courage… But bringing forward a completely new venture? That not only takes courage, but vision as well.
